Available Light


I love available light. Opening the curtains makes a difference.

I like this one. It's visually very interesting with the sharp contrast between very bright and very not bright

Back-lit or rim-lit can be a nightmare. I use the spot meter in the camera and pick the place that I'd like to be correctly exposed. And the black leather couch next to the bright of the window are so far off as to what a "proper" exposure would be that there isn't a middle tone.

Light is something I really struggle with--I try really hard to get it right, but I need to know more about how my camera works to do a good job of adjusting for less than ideal conditions
