A Tayja Spring

When Tayja came home from school today she insisted that it is spring because it is the "Burnal Equal Ox. "

Oh, you mean the Vernal Equinox.

"That is what I just said!"

Okay, Ms. Six-year-old, Do you know what that means?

"I just told you! It means that spring is here now."

Well, I am not too sure about that, I said, as I chipped ice out of the driveway to prepare for tonight's snow storm.

"Yes. Spring is here now because today will be as long as tonight. My teacher told me," she added.

You mean that the hours of daylight will equal the hours of darkness today.

"That is what I just said! You are not listening very well today," said Tayja, going in to the warm house to leave me to my ice chipping.
